Sarah Reynolds is an award-winning bilingual writer, working in both English and Welsh.

Originally from Surrey, she moved to west Wales in 2009 and learned Welsh. Since then, she has published novels, short stories, radio drama and creative non-fiction in both languages, with much of her work exploring questions of language, identity, belonging and the ways stories shape our understanding of place.

Her short story Catch of the Day won the Rhys Davies Short Story Competition, and its Welsh-language film adaptation, Helfa'r Heli, won the BAFTA Cymru Award for Best Short Film. Her BBC Radio Cymru drama Lliwiau'r Symffoni (Painting the Symphony) was shortlisted by BBC Writersroom before being produced for broadcast. Her English-language novel Traces of Alys, published by Honno in 2026, was runner-up in the Bridport Novel Prize and longlisted for the Curtis Brown Novel Prize.

Alongside her creative work, Sarah is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at Swansea University. Before entering academia, she spent many years working in television production and development, experience that continues to influence her storytelling across page, stage and screen.

Whether writing literary fiction, radio drama or stories rooted in contemporary Wales, Sarah is drawn to characters caught between languages, cultures and identities. Her work combines emotional depth with a strong sense of place, often asking how language can shape who we become.

She lives in Carmarthenshire with her family.
